Anders Palm

Intro

I was born in Gothenburg, Sweden, but have been living in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Vietnam since August 2007. I have a passion for web business and I am currently managing the excellent web company People With Ideas.

I have been fortunate enough to have been able to advise some of the largest companies in the world on how to handle their online presence in Vietnam, these companies include Kimberly-Clark, Johnson & Johnson and Mercedes-Benz. I like to plan and improve things related to the web. I also invest in domain names in Vietnam and have a portfolio of premium names in English and Vietnamese.

I love to travel, and from my experience the best food comes from Greece, Tokyo brings out the shopaholic in me and New Zealand consists of endless postcard beauty. I am scared of heights, but managed to survive two Canyon Swings in Queenstown, New Zealand (backwards & Gimp Boy). Last but not least, I make everyday enjoyable by playing badminton and discovering great new restaurants when exploring the wonderful city of Ho Chi Minh City.

Eat.vn an online food order site for Vietnam. Visitors can browse menus and order food online without any phone calls.

Expat.vn an expat service website for Vietnam. We specialize in paper work such as work permits, business licenses and legal documents.

Phai Di Network is a network of travel guides in Vietnamese. We reach more than 65,000 unique visitors per month with our travel guides to cities like Tokyo, New York, Paris etc.

Owner at People With Ideas

People With Ideas is my platform for making my web related ideas come true. Instead of working with clients, we build our own profit-making web products such as the website www.expat.vn where we have a background team of people that help expats in Vietnam with everything from visas to translations. We build websites like small businesses with dedicated staff for each project. We run this business with a small number of full time staff members, and an international network of web freelancers.

Co-founder at Sourcing In Vietnam

Dec 2008 – Jul 2010

Sourcing In Vietnam a sourcing agent and import/export consultant. SIV helps international companies with manufacturing in Vietnam. They get an average of 10 sourcing requests every day of the year, and 100% of our business currently comes from different web channels. We worked with Search Engine Optimization, Pay Per Click and a little bit of Social Media to make this happen. I sold my share in July 2010 to focus on People With Ideas.

Managing Director at IO Media

Sept 2008 – Dec 2008

IO Media is a small, fast moving web agency with clients like Kimberly-Clark, Rohto Mentholatum, Johnson & Johnson and Mercedes-Benz. I was there to improve the products we delivered and dealt directly with all of our clients and partners. Key accomplishments include re-launching Kimberly-Clarks "Girlspace" website which became one of the largest in Vietnam in that segment, and went on to become a regional case study within their organization.

March 2008 – Sept 2008

As Deputy Director I was in charge of R & D, business development and also helped out with sales. I focused a lot on bringing modern web technologies to IO and also sold these ideas to clients. Among other things, we managed to re-sign one of the top three largest internet marketing contracts in Vietnam.

Before IO Media was founded as a daughter company of IO Network, I was Business Development Manager at IO Network. I did high level B2B sales for their payment solutions department and helped the web marketing department to develop into its own company.

2004 - 2007

I was a student at the International Communications Programme at Örebro University. It only has 20 places available per year, and I was fortunate enough to qualify for one of them.

California State University at San Marcos, USA

2005 - 2006

I was an exchange student at California State University at San Marcos during the fall of 2005. I studied a variety of courses related to communications. Here I started focusing my degree more twwards web related topics with courses like Video on the web & Internet as a mass medium.
